An Undeserved Reputation

I explained that I hold my reins loosely, "no tighter than I hold a fork when I am eating."

"I just cannot picture that!," she said.

"No, really there is no point in squeezing the reins," I pointed out once again.

"I have no problem with that. It is just that I cannot imagine you actually using a fork to eat," she clarified.

(I bet David Niven never had to put up with such comments).

I don't know...I haveoften found it to my great advantage to have people completely underestimate me...one one hand...it is entertaining to slip up on the later...and on the other, one really finds out who is worth your time...those that want to be around despite the fact that I look like I came in on a slow freight train are probably pretty decent.
Pfft...fork...I was feeding a horde of girl scouts once and wound up with one more girl than fork...so I gave her mine and took my pocket knife out and cut two little hickory shoots...slipped the bark off em and sat down with my new chopsticks to eat....then promptly got up from my rapidly cooling dinner to cut 12 more pairs of chopsticks. -sometimes being too public an innovator makes for a cold dinner. -Lloyd
